#05: the last of autumn

Happy late Halloween everyone!!! If I'm honest, I didn't even think I was gonna have plans on Friday, but even though my last-minute plans got cancelled in the evening, I ended up hanging out with a new friend and still had a very nice Halloween. I also had stuff going on yesterday too, though - I went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show in the cinema for the first time with one of my best friends, it was his first time ever seeing the film which was funny to watch. One of my city's cinemas holds the world record for the longest time the same film has been shown regularly, that being Rocky Horror. We got dressed up as Brad and Janet and participated in the Rocky Horror rituals, props and all. After that, we went to my mother's concert, which was amazing!!!!! She hasn't played a show this big in years and she has an album coming out soon, which I am SO excited for! I had a really great time X)

This week has been quite exhausting, but it flew by eerily quickly. Most of my free time was spent buying & making parts of my costume, though I met up with a friend from my old class on Thursday to go to the museum (it was lovely!!). Otherwise, I‘ve mostly been working - I‘m very happy where I am, but I am quite tired, next week‘s fall break is well deserved!!!!

I was talking to a new friend recently and she compared my singing voice to Clairo‘s, which might be the best compliment i‘ve EVER gotten????? She kind of reminded me of Clairo‘s older music, I’ve mostly been listening to Charm and the latest single (Anticipate), but now I have Immunity playing on repeat. I‘ve already started on my November playlist, but it‘s only half an hour long so far, we don‘t want another monthly playlist dilemma like in October…. It did turn out nice though, I‘m happy with it now, though it‘s quite chaotic. Then again, all of my playlists are chaotic, so it doesn‘t really matter… I have also been listening to my records more during the last couple of days, I'm listening to Getz / Gilberto on vinyl as I write this! 

By the way, I found a random shelf in my driveway the other day around 10pm and I decided to take it and use it for my records, I am super happy with it!! I also had kind of an identity crisis and started taking stuff down from my walls, now I'm looking for new posters and furniture and stuff that feels more like me, I've been meaning to redecorate for literal years.

I‘ve been texting with some of my classmates more in general recently, I‘ve had very nice exchanges and I‘m very happy with this little community our class has become. I already shared some of my music, poetry and some art with fellow writers, music enjoyers and artists, which felt very liberating, there‘s more creative people in my immediate vicinity than ever before. 

Next week, I‘m meeting a few friends (mostly people from my new class - and Lena 🤭) but i‘m also visiting my grandparents for two days, i‘m quite excited to see them and take lots of long walks and eat lots of good food X) I originally wanted to go to another city to visit some friends & family, but i do have to study quite a bit next week and I fear I wouldn’t get to it… I‘m still excited for some freedom though!

Overall, I am going to be mourning Fall for a while, but I recently got out of the train in the cool of the evening (Dusty Springfield reference!!!!!) and the air smelled like Winter is going to be better this year than the past years have allowed it to be. I can already see myself on the day before Christmas wondering how the time could've gone by this fast! I hope that if you're reading this, the feeling is contagious enough to take your fear of the cold and you can still enjoy the last of Autumn next week!
